Join Our Community Group: Seeking New Members and Collaborative Partnerships!
We are currently upgrading our premises at The Old Granary, Candlehouse Lane Coupar Angus PH13 9DD and hope to have this completed over the next few months. As the group continues to grow, we will in the next month or so, be looking for new members—especially women over 18—who are passionate about connecting, learning, and supporting one another. If you're looking for a space to engage with like-minded individuals, share your experiences, or personal growth, we’d love to hear from you.
We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive, supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Whether you’re seeking friendship, collaboration, or a place to share your skills and talents, our community will be the perfect space to meet new people and make a difference.
Once the upgrading work to the premises is complete, we aim to open our doors to other community groups in need of a venue. If your group is looking for a flexible, affordable space to meet, host events, or run workshops, please get in touch so we can discuss your needs and keep you advised of our progress. We believe that by working together and sharing resources, we can build a stronger, more connected community.
Whether you’re interested in becoming a member or partnering with us to share our space, we believe in the power of collaboration and community-driven success. We’d love to hear from anyone over 18 who is eager to be part of something meaningful.
Join us and help us create a welcoming, dynamic community that makes an impact!

Who or what is a “Community Shed”?
It originally came from the ‘Men’s Shed’ concept, which is more or less a larger version of the typical man’s shed in the garden – a place where he feels comfortable to be and where he can pursue practical interests with a high degree of autonomy. A Men’s Shed offers this to a group of like-minded men where members share the tools and resources they need to work on projects of their own choosing, at their own pace and in a safe, friendly and inclusive venue. Now we are opening this up to become more inclusive so that anyone over the age of 18, living within postcode areas PH10 and PH13 can join in, not just men.
A Shed’s activities have traditionally involved making or mending in wood (e.g. carpentry, joinery, turning) but may include gardening, electronics, tool renovation and more. As the new community group grows, we see our activities and interests expand too so please come forward with new suggestions. We would particularly like to hear from ladies so that we can offer suitable activities to suit you.
Up-cycling and restoration will still feature strongly, and you might find yourself with a new lease of life too as the weeks go by. Although Sheds have mostly attracted older men in the past, we welcome people of any age and gender. We believe in encouraging good interaction between young and old.
Social activities should also feature highly whether as group activities or family activities like a summer Barbeque.
Mini classes on things like basic cookery, or computer programming or other ‘how to’ activities have featured in the past with new ideas welcome.
Whatever activities are pursued the essence of a Shed is not just the building itself, but the building of networks and relationships between the members.
BDCS aim to be self-sustaining by creating various fund-raising activities like quiz nights or raffles and our annual pop-up shop.
We are happy to receive donations of tools and equipment, some of which we can use, some we renovate and sell. Those we don’t, we send to third world countries who are less fortunate than us. We also undertake small commissions such as the bird and bat boxes for the Coupar Angus Pride of Place group.
Come along and join us for some refreshments and an opportunity for practical work! Don’t worry if you think you have no practical skills, maybe you can either learn new ones while you’re here, if you want to, or just come for the banter.
We are open between 6pm and 9pm on Tuesdays but other times will be as demand dictates.
